Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 27, 2026

DriveStats is built privacy-first. Your driving data — routes, locations, driving behavior, and the insights derived from them — is processed and stored on your iPhone. We do not operate a server that receives your location or trip data. This policy explains what stays on your device, what limited anonymous data leaves it.

1. Your driving data stays on your device

All trip detection, GPS recording, route processing, and trip storage happen locally on your iPhone. Your raw location data, routes, speed samples, and trip history are never uploaded to our servers. They live in the app's on-device storage, protected by iOS data protection, and you can delete or export them at any time.

2. All analysis runs on-device

Every feature that turns your drives into insight is computed entirely on your iPhone — no cloud processing, no server-side machine learning. This includes advanced insights, trip analysis, fuel and energy estimation, location clustering, dashboard charts, and widgets. The math runs on your device; only the results are shown to you.

3. Place names and location

Grouping your GPS points into places (clustering) is performed on-device. Resolving a cluster or place name may use Apple's system geocoder (MapKit and CoreLocation), which sends the coordinate or the place name you typed to Apple to look up an address. This uses Apple's services, not ours, and is subject to Apple's privacy policy. Your raw trip routes are never sent during this lookup — only the single coordinate or query needed to name a place.

4. What we collect (anonymous usage analytics)

We use PostHog and Firebase to collect anonymous usage analytics so we can understand how the app is used and improve it. This includes: which screens you open and how long you spend in onboarding; feature and button taps; subscription plan (free, trial, premium, or lifetime); and your general app configuration and preferences.

5. No personal or identifiable information

DriveStats has no accounts and no login. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, home address, payment details, or any other information that identifies you personally.

6. Third parties

We do not sell or share your personal data, location data, or trip data with any third party. The only external services the app contacts are the ones listed above — PostHog and Firebase for anonymous analytics and crash reporting, Apple's system frameworks for geocoding, and RevenueCat (which processes App Store subscriptions on behalf of the app) — each under their own privacy policies.

7. Policy changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page and reflected in the 'Last updated' date above.
